John Paul Novak, age 31, of Redcliff, Colo., passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in a kayaking accident on Saturday, June 25, 2011.

John was born to Thomas and Cynthia Novak on Nov. 10, 1979, in Wausau, Wis. John grew up with his parents in Roberts, Wis., and attended River Falls High School, graduating in 1998.

John worked as a carpenter in Vail, Colo., where he lived for the past 10 years. John enjoyed many outdoor activities in the mountains of Colorado. John’s spirit will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Cynthia Novak of Roberts; sister, Sarah Benedict and her family of New Richmond, Wis.; brother, Jacob Novak of Vail; many aunts, uncles, grandparents, extended family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 1 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson. Visitations one hour prior to the Mass at church and on Thursday, June 30 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St, Hudson, 715-386-3725.
