John Richard Spielman

John Richard Spielman, 73, of River Falls passed away unexpectedly on July 5th at River Falls Area Hospital. John attended Menomonie schools, graduating in 1958, and then joined the United States Navy. He was in the service for 3 years, 3 months and 8 days.Upon completing his service, he married Jeannine “Sues” Tande on October 20th, 1962. At that time, he was employed at Univac and American Can in St. Paul. He decided to move to River Falls to attend the University and graduated with a degree in Business.Shortly after graduating from UW-River Falls, he was hired as personnel technician at the university where he eventually became Director of Human Resources. He was employed at UW-River Falls for 36 years before retiring.Through his life John enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and most of all camping at Big Swede’s Resort in Lake Holcombe.John is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lyla Spielman.John is survived by his wife, Jeannine “Sues” of River Falls; his children, Jeff Spielman of River Falls, Jodi (Ernest) Sharlow of River Falls, Jason Spielman (Jenna Steck) of River Falls; grandchildren, Jessica, Patrick, Danielle, Landon, Ashton; great-grandchildren, Navaeh and Wyatt Foley; sisters, Violet (Dick) Wilhelm of Ellsworth, Marlene Leary of Arizona; brothers, Robert (Diane) of Wisconsin Rapids, Roger (Deb) of Illinois, Marvin (Kate) of Sparta, Wisconsin; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Cashman-Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family.
