John Ross

John Robert Ross, age 67 of Hager City, WI died peacefully October 23, 2020 at his home with his loving wife at his side.  John was born October 29, 1952 to Lavern and Florence Ross in Middletown, New York.  He attended school in Detroit, MI.  John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp, serving until his honorable discharge in 1973.  He was united in marriage to Pamela Ross.  They had two sons, David and Billie Jo Ross.  His second marriage was to Cheryl (Karlstad) Scott on December 14, 2008 at English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, WI.  John worked as a self-employed over the road truck driver for 19 years, then worked for Upper River Services for some time, and retired from ConAgra Flour Mill in Hastings, MN.  John was a true pet lover and had several beloved pets, but his true companion was Boots the dog.  His family was always a concern for him, as he cared so deeply.

John will remain in the hearts of his wife, Cheryl Ross; sons, David Ross of Jackson Center, OH and Billie Jo (April) Ross of New Richmond, WI; daughter, Sharaya Mende of Iowa; step children, Mellissa (Bryan) Hoyer, Fred (Naomi) Scott III and Ryan (Rachel) Scott, all of Red Wing, MN; his grandchildren:  Matthew Ross, Jonathan Ross, Cameron Ross, Carleigh Ross, Samantha Ross, Brett Hoyer, Myles Hoyer, Ethan Scott and Jackson Scott; brother, Jerry (JoAnn) Ross; and sister, Melody Ross.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; brother, George Ross; sister, Donna Battles; and daughter-in-law, Tracey Ross.

A Visitation will be held 1:00 – 3:00 PM (with respect to social distancing and masks required) Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 130 N Grant St., Ellsworth, WI.  A Remembrance service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.  Interment with military honors by the Kinne-Englehart American Legion Post #204 will take place at Trimbelle Cemetery.
