John Samuel “Chick” Rose

John Samuel ”Chick”” Rose age 85 of Hudson died peacefully Sunday June 15th at his residence. Chick was born on September 2, 1928 in Bayport, Minnesota; the son of Frederick and Florence ””Flossy”” Rose. He was raised in Hudson where he attended school. As a young man, he enlisted in the armed forces and proudly served in the United States Army prior to being honorably discharged. On March 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to Rosella ””Sally”” Johnson in Iowa. Chick began his career with Norlake Refrigeration in Hudson where he worked nearly twenty years. He would then take a position for the City Of Hudson Public Works / Parks and Recreation. He worked here over twenty years prior to retiring in 1991.

For anyone who knew Chick, they greatly appreciated his positive demeanor as he was always smiling and enjoyed your company. He cherished his family and rarely missed a sporting/school event for his children and grandchildren. He was a former member of the Hudson Fire Department and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed hunting or spending time with family at or near their cabin in Cumberland. He enjoyed being busy and working with his hands. He built his current house; going as far as digging the basement/foundation by hand. More recently, he loved tinkering with the yard and had the weeds on the run as he was known to pick them by the bags.

Chick will forever remain in the hearts of his children, Sheryl, David (Jean nee Stoetzel), Thomas (Lisa nee Bakke), John Jr. (Diane nee Hamble) & Joseph (Tammy nee Sanford); four grandsons: Jeremy (Candy) Thelen, Tom Rose Jr., Mark Rose & Justin Rose; five granddaughters: Tania (Adam) Strawn, Nicole Rose, Stephanie Rose, Tracy Rose & Stacy (Alex) Olson; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Jason, Jordyn, Landon, Lachlan, Laelynn; brothers Jerry (Kathy) Rose, Dan (Pat) Rose; sisters-in-law Marcy and Shirley Rose; and the extended Johnson family. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Sally; siblings Bonnie Kohrt, Joyce Smith, Betty Hand, Rosie Morgan, Hugh Rose, Dick Rose, Fritz Rose, and Samuel Rose.

Funeral service for John ””Chick”” Rose will be 11AM Monday June 23 at Bethel Lutheran Highlands Church; 504 Frontage Road in Hudson.
