John Robert Wanner, age 60, of Hudson passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 5th, 2019 of a heart attack at the Hudson Hospital emergency room. He was born on July 20th, 1959 in Hudson, WI & graduated from Hudson High School in 1977. He was a loving father survived by his family & children: Charles Wanner, Grace Wanner, Hazel Wanner; Significant Other: Sara Anderson; Mother of his children: Kristine Wanner; Mother: Genevieve Osborne; Siblings: Ben Wanner, Lynn Wanner Ogburn, Lisa Wanner Spott, Bill Wanner. John resided in Hudson for the duration of his life & served his community for 20 years as a volunteer firefighter. He loved flowers, gardening, hunting, fishing, & being outdoors. A Memorial Service for John will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday December 15th at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 11th St. S. Hudson, with a Visitation taking place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM preceding the service. The family requests any memorials be to aid John’s legacy of loving the outdoors through contributions to the National Wildlife Federation, P.O. Box 1583, Merrifield VA 22116, nwf.org.
We are so sorry to hear of John’s passing. We and other Hudson Alums have been fondly remembering “Chumley” and have all held him and you all in our hearts!

Deepest sympathy to all of Johns family. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. I had many great times with John on our canoe trips down the Namekagon and also fishing in Canada. He was a great guy and he will be missed. Mike and Amy Norelius
Sending my condolences to the entire family. I had the honor of working with John for years at the grocery store. He was a great leader and his hard work ethic, humor and respect for everyone led to my first job being a great experience.
