Jonathan Bonkrude

Jonathan Waine Bonkrude, age 83 of River Falls died November 25, 2024 at Comforts of Home in River Falls. Jonathan was born on June 18th, 1941 in Rice Lake, WI; the son of Waine Stuck and Vivian Bonkrude. He was raised in the Dallas, WI area and graduated from Barron High School. As a young man, he enlisted in the Armed Forces where he served in the United States Army. One of his favorite memories was having a beer with Elvis Presley while he was stationed in Germany.
He was married to Jane Bonkrude to which children Ronald, Jonathan, Tammy and Todd, were born. Jonathan worked in the Chippewa Falls area where he worked for many years painting houses. Jonathan had a unique sense of humor and outlook in life; following some difficult lessons he learned in life. He enjoyed the little things in life; such as a boat ride down the Red Cedar River with his daughter, Tammy, or the bounce of a bobber while fishing on Lake Wissota with his son, Ron. He also enjoyed working in his woodshop creating smaller crafts; such as birdhoused and signs that he could share with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children Ronald (Wyndee) Bonkrude, Tammy Plowman and Todd (Viola) Leverton; grandchildren Jonathan Bonkrude, John (Kelsey) Brandt; and great grandchildren Adisyn and Emersyn. He is preceded in death by his parents; son Jonathan “Johnny”; first wife Jane, second wife Carol; sons-in-law Tommy Plowman and Odie Capps.
Graveside services will be held June 18th, 2025 at the Dallas Cemetery; Dallas, Wisconsin. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post. Memorials may be directed to the funeral home. Cremation and memorial services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of River Falls.
