Joseph A. Briske

Joseph A. Briske, age 45 of Hudson, died Thursday, July 17, 2014.

Joseph Albert Briske was born December 22, 1968 in Grand Forks, ND to parents William and Kathleen (Maszk) Briske. He attended Midway Elementary in Inkster, ND, and graduated from Midway High School in 1987. After high school Joe joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany for the three years he served. Joe continued to serve his country for 17 more years with the North Dakota and the Minnesota National Guard.

After his release from the Army, Joe attended the University of North Dakota and earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. It was during this time that Joe met the love of his life. He was united in marriage to Monica Malstrom on May 14, 1993 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND. Together they have a beloved daughter, Emily. Joe worked for several communication installation companies, and was currently employed as a Telecom Technician at NACR in Eagan, MN.

Joe was a private person, but he loved his family. He was always in attendance at Emily’s soccer games, and could often be seen working out at the YMCA. Joe did a little woodworking and enjoyed watching football. He was a member at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hudson.

Joe will remain in the hearts of his wife of 21 years, Monica; daughter, Emily; parents, William and Kathleen Briske of McKinney, TX; siblings, Pamela (Joseph) Smith of El Paso, TX, Angela (Sean) Riley of Flower Mound, TX, William (Angela) Briske of Rowlett, TX; grandmother, Susan Briske of Grand Forks, ND; godchildren, Rachel Smith and Carter Malstrom; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Veronica Maszk; paternal grandfather, Steven Briske; and nephew, Thomas Deleon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 25 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson. A visitation honoring Joe’s life will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM, with an 7:45 PM Prayer Service, Thursday, July 24, at the O’Connell Funeral Home, 520 So. Eleventh St., Hudson, and 1 hr prior to Mass on Friday at the church.
