Joseph Edward Brooks, age 95, of Hastings, MN passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 (76 years after his wedding day) at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, MN. He was born on October 6, 1923 in River Falls, WI to Joseph and Celestina “Tina” (Pechacek) Brooks. On November 17, 1942 he was united in marriage to Margaret Pauline Huppert at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Big River.
Joseph was very proud of his children. He worked a number of different jobs over his lifetime, some of which included farming for a number of years, owned a dance hall for twenty years, he was a truck driver for many years, he also worked at Walmart for 37 years (10 years in Arkansas and 27 years in Hastings) retiring in 2016 at the age of 92.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Celestina (both died when he was 3 years old); his wife, Margaret; one daughter, Patricia Mary Brooks; one brother, Milton Brooks; one sister, Mary Johnson.
Joseph is survived by one son, Joseph James Brooks; four daughters, Peggy (Dennis) Chirhart, Cathy (Chris) Sawicki, Joan (Jeff) Rambaum, Sister Mary Kay Brooks, SSND; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Joseph will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 21st at O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 1339 Orrin Road, Prescott, WI with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Prescott, WI.
