Joyce K. Cassutt

d. January 3, 2019

Joyce Cassutt, age 90 of Hudson, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Pine Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Hudson, WI. She was born April 18, 1928, in Waseca, Minnesota to Clyde and Kathryn Williams. After graduating from Winona High School in Winona, MN, she earned a teaching degree at Mankato Teachers College. Joyce married Florian “Cass” Cassutt on June 13, 1953, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Mankato. Together they had three children. She was an educator and combined her intellectual curiosity with her sharp wit. She was a voracious reader and spent time each week checking out books at the Hudson library. She loved a good mystery. She was a talented cook, loved entertaining and relished being a mom and a grandma. In retirement she traveled the world with her sister, Jean. She developed a love of sports since her husband was an avid fan of nearly every sport. Joyce will remain in the hearts of her children Michael (Cindy) Cassutt, Mark Cassutt, Nancy (Chris) Ison; grandchildren Ryan, Alexandra, Kathryn (Craig), Zachary, Allison, Elliot and Ethan. She is preceded in death by her husband Florian; her parents Clyde and Kathryn; and her sister Jean and brother Robert. We would like to thank the staff at Pine Ridge Assisted Living and Adoray Hospice care for their loving care and guidance as we navigated this journey. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St, Hudson, WI, for a visitation followed by an 11 a.m. funeral Mass. Burial will take place at Ft. Snelling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Hudson Area Library Foundation, 700 1st St., Hudson, WI, 54016.
