Joyce M. Huber

Joyce Marie Huber (Meier) age 94 died peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Prescott WI.

Joyce was born on June 9, 1924 to Arthur and Ada Meier (Hartman) on the farm in rural Prescott where she lived her whole life. Upon graduating from Prescott High School in 1942, she attended the River Falls State Teachers College where she earned a teaching degree. She taught in rural schools in both St. Croix and Pierce county for four years.

She married Stanley Huber from Ellsworth WI on June 11, 1948 and her career title changed to farm wife, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Grandma and “Homemaker Extraordinaire”.
In their 65 years of marriage, Stan and Joyce were blessed with six children, two daughters and four sons. JoAnne (Jeff) Kittleson of Frederic WI; Ken (Jan) of Cottage Grove MN; Jerry (Trisha) of Prescott WI; Dan (Cheryl) of Prescott WI; Mike (Toni) of Siren WI; Kim (Bob) Zahradka of Prescott WI. They have 14 grandchildren, David (Kim), Kevin, Nicole and Nathan (Lynn) Kittleson; Brad (Kathy) Huber, Jenny (Arend) Smith; Ali (Ryan) Beierman, Matt (Emily) Huber, Chris (Laura) Huber; Tiffani (Chris) Sluppick, Josh (Amanda) Huber; Ryan Simones; Nick Johnson and Brittani (Billy) Frey. 17 great grandchildren Michael Turly and Kaylee Kittleson; Katie, Hailey and Johnathan Kittleson; Tyler Diesterhaft; Celeste and Max Huber; Sophia Smith; Landon and Owen Beierman; Brantley, Quinn and Avery Huber; Peyton Sluppick; Elijah and Wyatt Frey. One great great granddaughter Savvy Brock.

Joyce’s greatest love was Stan and her entire family. She also enjoyed gardening, playing the organ and chimes for St. Johns, teaching Sunday School, raising chickens and selling eggs, drawing and making birthday cards for her grandchildren, decorating for and celebrating the holidays, baking (especially her famous lemon meringue pie and rolled out Christmas cookies), going on mini road trips with Stan, birdwatching, puzzles, coloring and tending to her many kitties. Her mind was sharp as a tack for her full 94 years of life and her smile that lit up a room will be missed by all.

Joyce was preceded in heaven by her parents, husband and sister Leola Johnson.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at the Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community and the hospice staff at Interim who provided Joyce with loving care.
