Judith Rae Hurtgen, age 80, of rural Baldwin, passed away on January 29, 2025. Born on June 9, 1944, to Roy and Marcella Green, Judy grew up with a love for family and a zest for life. On October 22, 1965, she married Clint Hurtgen, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned fifty years. Their marriage was blessed with three children, four grandchildren, and a lifetime of cherished memories.

Judy found joy in many activities throughout her life. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, and golfing with her sisters, Lynda and Selba, along with their dear friend Elaine. Friday nights were often spent playing cards, and summers brought road trips across the country with Clint, Rich, and Audrey. Each year, they explored new destinations, creating unforgettable experiences together.

A talented gardener, Judy had a natural green thumb. She took pride in growing a large vegetable garden, potting vibrant flowers, and thoughtfully arranging decorative displays each summer. Her creativity extended to the kitchen, where she enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables and baking treats for her family. Some of the fondest memories of her children and grandchildren were of sharing coffee with her at the family cabin up north.

Judy’s love for animals was always evident. Whether she was watching birds from her porch or snuggling with one of her beloved cats, she found comfort and companionship in the creatures around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Marcella Green; husband, Clinton Hurtgen; Baby Boy Kees, daughter, Wendie Kees Steele; and brother-in-law, Tag Johnson.

She is survived by her sister, Selba (Bernard) Schoeder, brother Frank (Peggy Steien) Green, and sister Lynda Johnson; children Paul (Mary Bibeau) Hurtgen and Jolene Hurtgen-Kerr; grandchildren Taylor (Jake) Hurtgen, Lindsey (Jordan) Kennedy, Dalton (Mikayla Malean, fiancée) Kerr, and Dakota (Kassidi Thompson, fiancée) Kerr; and great-granddaughter, Autumn Kennedy.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street, Baldwin, WI. To honor Judy’s wishes, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s name can be made to either Lucky Paws Midwest or Adoray Home Health and Hospice. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin, WI. 715-684-3434.
