Julie R. Gulden

Julie Rae Gulden (Einerson), age 73, of Hudson, WI, passed away on February 16, 2016 at Hudson Hospital.

Julie was born March 16, 1942 in Montevideo, MN to Raymond and Grace (Hegstrom) Einerson. Julie graduated in 1960 from Montevideo High School where she met her future husband, Neil Gulden in 1957.

Julie and Neil married October 9, 1962, and settled in Richfield, MN where she worked for IBM and welcomed their two children. Julie was a homemaker, living in Montevideo and Mora, MN, before moving to Wausau, WI in 1978, where she was a realtor at Williams Realty for 20 years. They retired to Surprise, AZ where they had nine very fun and family-filled years, and moved to Hudson in 2012.

Julie had a love of books and a passion for all things political. She sat on the boards of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Rothschild, WI, and Lord of Life Lutheran in Sun City West, AZ. In 1971, while in Montevideo, she founded the Santa Anonymous program, and with the help of many, it still supplies toys each year to children in need. She was a prolific progressive blogger in retirement, whose Twitter profile read, “Go in peace, feed the poor.” She attended the Netroots Nation annual convention three years in a row. Julie loved a good laugh and treasured her family.

Julie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Neil; son, Dan of Langley, WA; daughter, Stacy and son-in-law, Jack, of Hudson; brothers: Rev. Dr. Richard Einerson (Carolyn) of Greeley, CO, David Einerson (Colleen) of Sun City West, AZ, and James Einerson (Gail) of Gold River, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Julie was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson, WI, where she will be interred. A private family service will be held. Memorials may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church in care of the Hudson Food Shelf. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Lakeview Hospice and the staff and nurses at Hudson Hospital for their kindness and care given to Julie and her family.
