Katherine “Kathy” Mary Tomberlin, age 64, of St. Croix Beach, Minnesota passed away November 27th, 2021 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota after a short battle with Covid-19. She had been battling many health conditions for quite some time making her immunocompromised and especially vulnerable to this disease.

Katherine was born on September 21st, 1957 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Mary Katherine (Kahl) Cowley and Edward Joseph Fabeck. She attended Afton-Lakeland Middle School and went on to graduate from Stillwater Senior High School. She was employed through the Stillwater School district as a custodian for many years.  She later found her calling in the healthcare industry as a home healthcare worker. Katherine was united in marriage to William Michael Tomberlin in 1972 and they were soon blessed with their daughter, Lesley.

Kathy will be remembered for her loving heart and infectious smile. She enjoyed so many different activities from gardening, boating, making wine, canning her home-grown fruits and vegetables, attending fall craft fairs, garage saling, antiquing, cooking, and watching movies.  She was exceptional at anything arts and crafts.  Quilting, sewing, beading, cross-stitching; she always had many DIY projects going on at a time. Kathy especially loved the holidays. Christmas was her favorite as she could decorate and indulge in all the delicious food, and spend quality time with her family. She had so much love for animals, as her daughter recalls growing up with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, baby ducks, and a few others.  Kathy will forever be missed by everyone whose heart she touched. “I love you so much mom and I wish I could have just one more visit or even a phone call with you.”

She is proceeded in death by her brother, Edward Fabeck Jr.; sister Ruthann Fabeck; stepfather, Rolland Cowley; and brother-in-law, Warren Hoback.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Lesley Tomberlin; grandchild, Madison Stordahl; mother, Mary Cowley; father, Edward Fabeck; sister, Sherry Hoback; half-brother, James (Jim) Cowley; sister-in-law, Jane Fabeck; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held to honor Kathy in the spring of 2022. Information on the service will be posted at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family to help with expenses.
