Kathie Anderson

Kathie J Anderson, age 50, of Maplewood, MN, died from ovarian cancer at her parent’s home in Hudson, WI on February 11, 2022. She was born September 15, 1971, in Stillwater, MN, the daughter of Jerome and Phyllis (Hjelmgren) Anderson.

Following graduation from Hudson High School in 1989, Kathie worked as a ballroom dance instructor for one year, followed by five years as a corporate travel agent. In 1996 she returned to college at University of Wisconsin, River Falls, where she received her BA in psychology with a Spanish minor. In 2000, she moved to CA where she received her MA in Transpersonal Psychology and Certificate in Dream Studies at John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA. In addition, she held the following healing arts certifications: wellness coaching, hypnotherapy, Reiki, Chakradance, massage and astrology. She loved learning and was especially passionate about astrology.

Kathie was treasured and cared for by many friends and family who will remember her fierce independence, deep love of nature and animals, especially cats and birds, and an incredible sense of humor. Her loved ones will genuinely miss her presence and her contagious laugh. She was a compassionate and wise woman who offered unconditional support to others right up to the time of her death.

Her proudest accomplishments included: trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, moving to CA on her own, receiving her master’s degree, buying her own home, starting her own healing arts business, and being a horoscope columnist for The Edge Magazine. She brought creativity to her administrative positions in higher education and healing organizations, where she served the public with professionalism and warmth.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents and eldest brother Curtis Lee Anderson.

She is survived by her parents Jerome and Phyllis Anderson of Hudson, WI, her brother Michael (Crystal) Anderson of Hudson, WI, her sister-in-law Leslie Anderson, many nieces, a nephew, and aunts and uncles.

A celebration of Kathie’s life will be held Sunday evening, February 27, 2022 at Woodbury Central Park Building, 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury MN. The service begins at 5:30 with light refreshments to follow the service. The family asks that participants follow a face covering mandate for the safety of everyone attending. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Roseville, MN, where she volunteered to feed baby birds.
