Kathleen Carey

Kathleen Patricia Carey, age 78 of Hudson, formerly of River Falls, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 20, 2016 at the Christian Community Home of Hudson. Kathleen was born March 14, 1938 in LaCrosse, WI, blessing the lives of her parents, Paul and Margaret Carey. She graduated from River Falls High School, the Class of 1956. After high school she furthered her education at St. Catherine’s University, obtaining a bachelors degree in Nursing. Kathleen worked as a registered nurse for United Hospital in St. Paul, and also compassionately served others as a home health care nurse. Kathleen’s gracious heart proudly cared for others. Her caring nature, professionalism, and sincere compassion were well respected, making her an exceptional nurse.

Most important to Kathleen was her faith. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and loved helping at the St. Patrick’s School rummage sale. She had a close relationship with her mother, Margaret, and graciously took care of her until her final days. Kathleen adored her miniature dachshund, “Lil Bit,” who went everywhere with her. She had a great sense of humor and her wittiness will be missed.

Kathleen will remain in the hearts of her daughters, Kathy Jo Zezza of Minneapolis and Mary Margaret Zezza of Hudson; grandchildren: Chad, Jacob, Matthew, Andrew and Megan; great grandchildren; and brother, Michael (Janice) Carey of Lino Lakes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Margaret Carey.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place 2:00 PM Monday, September 26, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with Fr. John Gerritts officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place one hour prior to Mass at church.

A special thanks to the staff at the Christian Community Home for their loving care of Kathleen throughout the last 8 years.
