Kathleen “Kate” Anne Piscitello passed away suddenly Monday, July 25th, 2022. She was born January 21, 1956 in Des Moines, Iowa to Frank and Virginia Eickman. She moved to Salem, SD when she was 9 years old and graduated from Salem High School. She then moved to Minneapolis to continue her education where she met her beloved husband Ralph Michael Piscitello III. She married Ralph 46 years ago on October 4, 1975 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salem, South Dakota. She had two children, Matt (Pam) of Issaquah, WA and Gina of Chicago, IL, and two grandchildren Aurelia and Ettore that she adored. She had three siblings, John Eickman (Rhonda) of Hopewell Junction, NY, Michael Eickman (Ann) of Spartanburg, SC, and Karen Bjelland of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Virginia Eickman, her aunt Sister Kathryn Noonan, and in-laws Ralph Piscitello Jr., Evelyn, and Tony Piscitello.
She enjoyed all the opportunities she had to serve the community. She was currently working at Lake St. Croix Beach City Hall as Deputy Clerk/Treasurer and at Lower St. Croix Valley Fire Protection District as secretary. She previously worked for Lakeland City Hall and was Director of Religious Education at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for 25+ years helping educate multiple generations of students in the Catholic faith.
She was an avid volunteer, putting the needs of others before her own. She was a head election judge for many years, ensuring a fair and accurate election where every person’s vote counted. She was active in her Church community at St. Francis, including with the Prayer Network, funeral luncheons, the annual Red Cross Bloodmobile and as a Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered at the Piper Breast Center at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital following her diagnosis with cancer due to her desire to give back to those who helped her through her cancer journey. She was active in both of her children’s schools, frequently volunteering at Stillwater Area High School and Afton-Lakeland Elementary.
Kate was loved by all. Even in times of adversity, she was always kind and spent her time devoted to helping others. She was brave, advocating for others in need. No matter what anyone asked, she was always available to help. She adored her husband, children, and grandchildren and was the best wife, mother, grandmother and role model we could have ever imagined. We love her deeply. Her family valued her wisdom and guidance, and our lives will be forever enhanced by all she has done for us. We will miss her dearly and take comfort in knowing she is with God in Heaven and reunited with family.
