Kathleen ‘Kay’ Olson

Kathleen “Kay” K. Olson, age 75 of Hudson, WI died Thursday May 3rd, 2018 at the Hudson Hospital following an apparent heart attack.  Kay was born on October 3, 1942 in St. Peter, Minnesota to George and Irma Krause. She was raised in Henderson, Minnesota where she graduated from high school. In 1964, she was united in marriage to Gerald Olson to which children Susan, Bradley, and Julie were born. This union would later dissolve. For many years, Kay worked with her sisters owning and operating gift shops. She enjoyed her time at Commemorative Imports and Noah’s Ark.

Kay enjoyed tending to her flowerbeds, especially snapdragons and geraniums. She loved her family and watching her grandchildren grow up. From baby sitting and having them over, she loved to hear about their lives and what was new. Earlier in life, she was a proficient trap shooter and enjoyed her traveling adventures to Europe, National Parks, Door County, and the Amana Colonies.

Kay will remain in the hearts of her children Susan (Donald) Manore of Bay City, Bradley Olson of New Richmond, Julie (Todd) Karkela of Woodbury, grandchildren Austin,  Jenna, Tanner, Jonah, Isabella, Mitchell, siblings Mary (Chester) Aldrich of Henderson, MN, Margaret Nolan of Hudson, Charles Krause of TN, William Krause of Fla, as well as her nieces and nephews. Her sister Georgiann precedes her in death.

A Memorial service for Kay will be held at 3pm on Wednesday May 9th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. A visitation will immediately follow until 7pm at the funeral home. All are encouraged and welcomed to come to both. Interment will be at Brown Cemetery in Henderson. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
