Kathryn Lillian Hoseid Wasmund (Stark), age 91 passed away peacefully on January 30, 2021 at the Beehive Home in Elk River, Minnesota.

Kathryn Lillian Stark was born August 15, 1929 to Ralph and Marcelline (Schmotter) Stark in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.  The family relocated to Hudson, Wisconsin where she graduated from Hudson High School, class of ’47.  While she was in High School, she began working at Wisconsin Bell as a Telephone Operator and continued working there after graduation. 

On August 31, 1957, Kay married Arthur Hoseid, a union that was blessed with 3 children.  She continued her career working at First Trust Company and later H. & Val J. Rothschilds in St. Paul, retiring in 1988.  Kay, as she was known, enjoyed traveling with Art until his death in 1986.

In 1991, Kay married James Wasmund and they became snowbirds, splitting their time between Hudson and Mesa, Arizona.  After Jim’s death in 2000, she relocated to Mesa and continued traveling into her 80s.  Due to declining health, she moved to Elk River, Minnesota in June, 2020 to be closer to family. 

She is survived by children; Connie Knuppenburg of Funny River, Alaska, Mary Alice Hoseid of St. Paul Park, Minnesota, David Hoseid of Princeton, Minnesota, grandson, Benjamin Hoseid of Princeton, Minnesota, sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and Merritt Stigen of Hudson, nephew, Charles (Cara) Stigen and niece, Lisa (Greg) Dornfeld and their family, and special cousin/dearest friend, Marie Loughney of Hudson. 

She was preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Marcelline Stark, husbands; Art Hoseid and Jim Wasmund and son-in-law, Jay Knuppenburg. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Wednesday February 3, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hudson. Service will be available via livestream through St. Patrick’s Facebook page. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her first husband Art. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to The Wounded Warrior project.
