Kennard (Ken) Lowell Pechuman, age 89, of Afton MN, passed away peacefully on November 15th at the Pillars Hospice home in Oakdale. Ken was born August 3, 1931 on the family farm in Afton, MN to Harry and Emma (Fritsche) Pechuman.

He attended Eastwood School in Afton, MN through 1945. At age 13 he decided to continue his education on the family farm working side by side with his parents.  He was united in marriage on June 8, 1963 to Myrtle Irene Anderson at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, St. Paul, MN.  Their marriage was blessed with four children.  Ken worked his full career as a dairy farmer, first on the family farm in Afton and then moving the operation to a farm in Rice Lake, WI in 1989 until his retirement in 1996.  

Along with his career and hobby of farming, most important to Ken was his faith and his family.  He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Afton, MN most of his life but also was a member of First Lutheran in Rice Lake, WI and St John Lutheran in Spring Valley, WI where he was a Trustee for several years. He cherished his time with his family, especially during his retirement years, and truly enjoyed each moment with his grandson, Hunter and granddaughter, Katelyn.   Ken enjoyed telling stories, watching the MN Twins play baseball, restoring old tractors and anything related to farming.  

Ken’s gentle heart will be missed by daughters:  Beverly (Paul) Peck, Gail (Jason) Jung, and Sharon (Mike) Tolva; son, Gary (Jessica Walus) Pechuman; grandson, Hunter Ellstrom; granddaughter, Katelyn Ellstrom.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Myrtle.
