Kenneth Paul Hurtgen, age 69, of Roberts, WI, passed away on July 15, 2024. He was born on April 5, 1955 to parents Carl and Mary (DeLong) Hurtgen. Ken grew up on the family farm, was confirmed at Gethsemane Lutheran in Baldwin and and graduated from Baldwin-Woodville High School with honors and was class president. He also was an athlete in highschool, excelling in wrestling and football. He was named Middle Border All Conference defensive end in football. He then continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where he earned a degree in finance and business.

Ken worked at Fridays canning company, Anderson Windows and was also a steel worker in St Paul. He was known for having a sharp mind filled with knowledge, he had read the World Book Encyclopedia front to back. He also loved biking on the trails and had a good sense of humor, he loved Monty Python.

He will be missed by his siblings Janice (Todd) Ahneman, Diane (Brian) Doolittle, Dr. Brian Hurtgen, Kathy Larson and Mitchell Hurtgen; nieces and nephews Wendy Weaver, Amanda Ahneman, Elizabeth Ahneman, Ariah Frey, Dustin Frey, Christopher Frey, James Doolittle, Jessica Hurtgen, Victoria Dresdner, Jason Larson, and Nathanial Larson; as well as many aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

A memorial service for Ken will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin, WI. Visitation will be from 4-6pm with a service starting at 6pm.
