Kenneth Roy Fritz

Kenneth Roy Fritz, 93, of Ellsworth, died unexpectedly, Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Ellsworth Care Center.

Kenny was born in Woodman, WI, on October 3, 1921 to Leo and Margaret (Gilleland) Fritz.

He grew up on a farm near Montfort, WI. Kenny married Alice Elliott on June 10, 1942 in Highland, WI. Kenny and Alice began their lives together on a farm in Southern Wisconsin. Kenny aspired to be a truck driver and in 1946 he began his career as a truck driver. In October of 1954 he and Alice moved to Ellsworth where he worked highway construction. He later drove truck for Knudsen Trucking, Hines Transfer and Ellsworth Bottling. In 1978 he started another career as a bus driver for the Ellsworth School District and as custodian for Lindgren Elementary. He retired as custodian in 1984 but continued to drive bus well into his 80’s.

Kenny loved camping, going to coffee, the Minnesota Twins and joking around with his friends and family, especially with his grandkids.

He was a long-time member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ,

Kenny is survived by his children: Royce (Cindy), Hammond, WI; Roger (Delores); Hager City, WI; Kenny (Pam) Hastings, MN; Pat, Ellsworth, WI; Glory (James) Luebker, Beldenville, WI.

Daughter-in-law: Barb (Everett) Fritz-Muhlhausen, Ellsworth, WI.

16 grandchildren: 32 great-grandchildren: and two great-great-grandchildren.

Sister’s in-law: Eva Fritz, Fennimore, WI; and Opal (Leland) Watson, Pardeeville, WI.

Preceding him in death was his wife Alice in 2004, son Calvin in 2003, great-grandson Roger, brothers Earl and Carl and an infant sister Leora.
