Kermit W. Mayer, age 90, of Hudson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at the Christian Community Home on November 20, 2011. He is now at home with his Heavenly Father. He is a cherished husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. Kermit is preceded in death by his parents, George and Matilda Mayer; brother, Harry; and sisters, Imogene, Betty and Pearl. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Adena; sons, Duane Mayer and Kerry (Susan) Mayer; daughter, Linda (Russ) Espy; grandchildren, Travis (Mandy), Cori (Matt), Nathan (Michelle), Jon (Sara), and Ryan (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Hannah, Owen, Ben, and Matthew; and sister, Evelyn. Kermit was born in Lehr, North Dakota and was a teacher in a one-room school house before coming to the Twin Cities where he worked at the 7-UP Bottling Company and Burlington Northern. Kermit enjoyed fishing, gardening, and raising apples. His musical talents included playing Hawaiian guitar and trombone and he sang in church choirs for over 50 years. He treasured time spent with his family and will always remain in the hearts and memories of his loved ones. A celebration of Kermit’s life will be held at 12 o’clock pm on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the St. Croix Valley United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be private. Memorials preferred to St. Croix Valley United Methodist Church.
