Kimberly “Kim” Kay, age 54, passed away in the early hours of July 18th after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on October 16th, 1968 to her parents, Marilyn and Dan Kay. Her and her brother, Greg Kay, grew up in North Hudson. As a young adult, she enjoyed all activities including, cheerleading, track, bowling, and softball.

Kim was a devoted mother to her two children, Kyle and Danielle. She got the most joy watching her kids grow into young adults and guiding them through life’s challenges as well as being their ROCK.

Kim found great accomplishments at Ecolab, where she worked for 35 years as a Finance manager. While working full time, she received her bachelor’s degree at Concordia University in 2008.

Kim spent her life having fun: camping, boating, snowmobiling, going to her family’s cabin, and loved riding her Harley Davidson. She truly lived life to the fullest.

Kim is preceded in death by her father Dan Kay and Godmother DeEtte “Dee” Johnson.

Kim is survived by son Kyle Holden (Kaitlyn Scheu), daughter Danielle Holden (Zachary Coulson), mother Marilyn Kay, brother Greg (Karen) Kay, Nieces and nephew: Brittany (Zach) Robertson, Derek Kay, and Kristin Kay, and beloved dog, Rocco.

The Family would like to extend a deep thank you for the time spent supporting Kim during her battle with cancer: Caregivers at Comfort Keepers, as well as the staff at Lakeview hospice, and her oncologist Dr. J. In addition, we would like to thank Kim’s friend(s) Suzy (Duane) Scholz, Shawn “Schmed” Livermore, Cousins: David “Barney” Johnson and Donalee (John) Meyer, and Aunt Dorthy Johnson.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson with a Memorial Service to follow at 5:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will continue from 6:00-9:00PM at the Village Inn in North Hudson.
