Kingsley Hawkins

d. December 7, 2015

Kingsley Ernest Hawkins, age 88 of Baldwin died Monday December 7th 2015 at the Baldwin Care Center. Kingsley was born on June 1, 1927 in Baldwin; the son of Ernie and Dora (Gavin) Hawkins. He was raised on a farm near Roberts, graduating from Roberts High School. In 1949, Kingsley was married to the former Carmen Frey. To this union, six children were blessed; Chris, Char, Kevin, Margo, Bryan, and Patty. Carmen would precede him in death in 1963. In 1978, King married Cosette Rasmussen. They lived on Highway County Road J while he worked as a federal meat inspector. In 1986, he retired and they moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. In 2002, King and Cosette returned to Wisconsin to be closer to their families.

King always kept himself busy with hobbies and tinkering but most of all he loved to hit the dance floor on a waltz, fox trot, or polka. He enjoyed being outdoors and tending to his horses while going for rides. In his retirement years, he and Cosette enjoyed great road trips together. He was always up for a flea market or swap meet to see if there was anything there they couldn’t live without. On a quieter note, he enjoyed the tranquility of carving wood. Everyone close to King was given a keepsake; whether an Old World Santa, cross, or a horse, as a token of how much he cared for them.

King leaves to mourn his wife and best friend Cosette; children Chris Stork, Char Brenna, Kevin Hawkins, Margo (Bill) Schultz, Patty (Mike) Thompson, Bryan (Jeanne) Hawkins; bonus children Craig (Gloria) Rasmussen, Cherie Johnson (friend Tom Langford), Cele’ (Cyn) Rasmussen, Celeste (Bruce) Berg; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren, 24 step grandchildren; brothers Leon (Ilene) Hawkins, Ed (Peg) Hawkins, Gary (Jennifer) Hawkins; sister Marilyn Delander; sisters-in-law Mannette Hawkins, Joann Hawkins, Pat Delander, Marion Swanson, and Zita Stough.

King is preceded in death by his parents Ernie and Dora Hawkins; first wife Carmen; brothers Paul Hawkins, John Hawkins, William Hawkins; sister-in-law Loretta Hawkins, son-in-law Steve Brenna; brothers-in-law Leon Delander, Robert (Biz) Swanson, and Virgil Delander.
