Larry J. Hoyer, 57, of Ellsworth, received his wings on June 20, 2017. He was greeted with love at heaven’s gate by his son SPC Bert Hoyer, brother Daniel Hoyer, in-laws Charles and Florence Kline, grandparents Albert and Louise Hoyer, John and Edith Johnston, and brothers-in-law Ira Smith and Darwin Boadwine.
Larry graduated from Hudson High School Class of 1979. He married Peggy Kline in 1979 and was blessed with three children, Bert, Darryl, and Annie. Larry worked for Hoyer Brothers Well Drilling until September 2, 1986 when he left there and started at Pierce County Highway Department. He worked there until he retired on April 1, 2017.
Outside of his job, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, and helping others. He was a past president, then later treasurer of AFSCME Local 556. He also helped with the National Wild Turkey Federation. Larry was a member of the Soggy Bottom Bunch, Moville Sportsman Club, and a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Larry will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Peggy; children, Darryl (Craig) Hoyer, and Annie (Todd) Goodwin; five grandchildren, Ryanne, Rorey, and Reed Hoyer, and Riley and Hailee Goodwin; parents, John and Donna Hoyer; brother, Gary (Grace) Hoyer; three sisters, Teresa (Craig) Niskanen, Mary (Jerome) Vadnais, and Betty Boadwine; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; brother-in-law Charles (Romina) Kline Jr.; his AFSCME brothers and sisters; Soggy Bottom Bunch; members of the 652nd past and present family; as well as his aunts, cousins, the members of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and many friends.
A Memorial Service for Larry will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Beldenville, Wisconsin. A visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Hill Funeral Home in Ellsworth and from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the church on Saturday.
Burial will be at Our Savior’s Cemetery in Beldenville.
