Larry R Zirbel

Larry Raymond Zirbel, age 67, of Hudson passed away unexpectedly at Spring Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, NV, surrounded by his family on November 9, 2011. Larry was born on June 29, 1944 to Raymond and Ione (Meyer) Zirbel in Algoma, WI.  He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School, Algoma High School and attended the University of Wisconsin – Superior.  He joined the United States Air Force in 1962.  It was while stationed in Duluth, MN at the Bomarc Missile Base, that he met the love of his life, Judy Switzer.  They were married on June 25, 1966 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, WI. They spent the next 45 years together, raising three wonderful children and enjoying time with their granddaughter.  

Larry was a man of many traits.  He worked in the electrical, mechanical and computer technology fields. At the time of his death he was working for his eldest son’s company, Hospitality Kiosks, in Las Vegas, NV.   He was passionate about his work in the computer field.  He designed computer kiosks, installed, and serviced the computer equipment.  Larry loved spending time with his family as well as traveling, photography, cars and electronics.  He and Judy recently traveled to Spain and Portugal.  Larry was so lovable and full of life.  He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy.  He is also survived by three children, Loren (Karen) Zirbel of Las Vegas, NV; Laura (Brian) Motzer of Coronado, CA, Justin (Cassie) Zirbel of San Antonio, TX, and one granddaughter Sara Zirbel of Las Vegas, NV.  He is further survived by two brothers and two sisters, Lloyd (Beatrice) Zirbel of Larsen, WI, Lois (Jim) Miller of Mishicot, WI, Lynne (Rick) Gustafson of Sturgeon Bay, WI and Leslie (Kathy) Zirbel of Wausau, WI.  He is also survived by many other relatives and close friends.

A funeral celebration for Larry will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI at 1:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, Memorials are preferred.  Funeral services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home – Hudson Chapel.
