Larry Shada

Larry Shada age 64 of rural River Falls died Tuesday May 22, 2012 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born on January 3, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Frank and Mary (Crawford) Shada. Being raised in Minneapolis, he attended school in Minneapolis graduating from Southwest High School. He furthered his education at TVI in the Twin Cities as a welder. Larry was a gifted welder with a global vision. He shared his gift of welding as an instructor and as an employee for American Hoist & Derrick.  Larry had bigger aspirations than simply welding, so he founded Worldwide Welding Engineering Consulting. Larry traveled abroad to countries such as Africa and Japan assisting with engineering ideas on a large scale; such as the Fukudome Nuclear Plant. On July 11, 1988, he was united in marriage to his best friend; Shauna Tichenor in Las Vegas. The couple has lived in rural River Falls for several years as well as Hudson earlier. For those who knew Larry, they came to understand his appreciation and love for the outdoors; especially hunting. Larry was a true sportsman who enjoyed all facets of hunting; deer, geese, turkey, and fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed time spent deer hunting on their land near Cloquet, MN or fishing on Prairie Lake near Chetek. His travels also included a safari where he shot a wart hog and a record impala. His other hobby which he enjoyed was taking care of his Ford street rod.

Larry will remain in the hearts of his wife Shauna; daughter, Lainy Shada of Maplewood, MN and her children Brandon (Brittney) and Cole; daughter, Lyla (Jeremy) Courtemanche of Woodbury, MN and their children Alex, Trinity, and Eden; granddaughters-in-heart, Miranda and Ashleigh; and his sister, Charlotte (Gene) Oakins of Oregon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Shada; and brother, Charles.

A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be on Thursday May 24 from 4 to 7PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Private interment will be at a later date. Memorials are preferred. Cremation services coordinated by Countryside Crematory with funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes.
