Laurie R. Anderson

Laurie Rae Anderson, age 67 of Baldwin, died on July 9, 2018 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Laurie was born on November 26, 1950 to Leslie and Winnifred (DeSmidt) Anderson in Baldwin, WI. She attended Baldwin-Woodville schools and graduated with the class of 1969. Laurie furthered her education at UW River Falls and secured a bachelor’s degree. She worked her entire career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Eagan, MN and retired in 2009 as a Senior Compliance Analyst.

Family was the most important thing to Laurie. She adored her nieces and nephews; loving them like they were her own children. Laurie continued a Sunday morning tradition started by her parents, where family gathered to celebrate time together, always accompanied by a spread of food. Laurie had many talents, but one that she enjoyed very much, was quilting. She thoroughly enjoyed the people she met through quilting and made many friends at the quilt retreats and events she attended. Laurie enjoyed traveling, visiting Alaska, Hawaii, Norway and many other European countries. She traveled across the United States either visiting her family or attending Quilt Shows. Laurie treasured the adventures because she did it with family. Laurie was a person who took the path less traveled in life. She always went a different route or did the opposite of the majority simply because she could. Laurie was a kind and gentle listener and never passed judgment onto others. She treated everyone how she wanted to be treated. Laurie had a humble heart and a beautiful soul; she will be dearly missed. Generous and compassionate she was loved by all.

Laurie will remain in the hearts of her 6 siblings, Ron (Jan), Rich (Marilynn), Dave (Glenda), Bill (Gerilen), Linda (Jerry) McDougal and Carol (Brad) Hopp; 11 nieces and nephews, Jason (Amy) Anderson, Rick (Sherry) Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, Gina (Abe) Place, Krystal (Max) Geurkink, Jennifer (Patrick) Wellner, Jared (Jessica) Anderson, Jon McDougal, Jacob (Sally) McDougal, Katrina (Gustav) Brandstrom and Jed (Samantha) Hopp; 17 great-nieces and nephews, Brett Anderson, Katelyn Anderson, Lucas Anderson, Maia Macagnone, Austin Anderson, Hallee Place, Laney Geurkink, Dylan Geurkink, Graham Wellner, June Wellner, Luke Wellner, Alexis Bowen-Cook, Logan Anderson, Zachariah McDougal, Axel Brandstrom, Linnea Brandstrom, Laila Hopp; as well as other dear relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service for Laurie will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 221 Lockwood St., Woodville, WI. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the American Legion Post 301 in Woodville, WI. Services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI.
