Laurine A. Schneider

Laurine A. Schneider, age 93 of River Falls passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Comforts of Home in River Falls Wisconsin. Laurine was born on June 30, 1930; in Stillwater, Oklahoma; the daughter of Henry and Norine (Hower) Howells. She attended Johnson Elementary School in Cedar Rapids and Franklin High School, also in Cedar Rapids. She continued her education by receiving a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University. Shortly thereafter, she began a long and rewarding career as a teacher. She taught in the Cerritos School District in California for nearly fifty years. Her specialty was in home economics, but she also taught science classes. While working, Laurine attended California State University at Long Beach and earned additional college credits to enhance her teaching career.

Laurine was reserved and extremely thoughtful and kind. She spent most of her retirement in Issaquah, Washington near her daughter Cheryl. There, she enjoyed participating in book club and attended community events including plays which she loved. She was always dressed fashionably to perfection. She took great pleasure in shopping, especially at Nordstrom and Eileen Fisher, with her daughter Cheryl. She enjoyed gardening and had a special interest in nutrition and cooking. She loved her time in college and her sorority, Sigma Kappa. She remained active with the Sigma Kappa sorority for over 50 years.

Laurine is survived by her brother Richard (Margo) Howells; son-in-law Gary Posner; nieces/nephews Christopher (Terri) Howells, Christina (Corey) Moutray, and David MacKay. Her daughter Cheryl Marie and sister Willa Howells preceded her in death.

Private services honoring Laurine will be held by the family at a later date.
