LaVerne J. ‘Vern’ Boettcher

LaVerne James Boettcher, age 72 of Baldwin WI, died on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2013 at the Baldwin Care Center. He was the son of R. John and Eleanor (Vavra) Boettcher of Chippewa Falls.

Vern is survied by his wife, Sharon (Norden); three children, Karen Boettcher of Menomonie, Susan (Bryan) Hahn of Thompson ND, and Michael Boettcher of Menomonie; two grandchildren, Jason and Catherine Hahn of Thompson ND; two sisters, Marilyn (Bick) Fellenz and Carol Pevan, and two brothers, Richard (Pauline) Boettcher and Timothy Boettcher, all of Chippewa Falls; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Vern was a secondary math teacher and coach, and retired from the Boyceville School District in 1995. He dedicated his life to educating children, and continued doing so after retirement by volunteering at the Hill County High School in Kerrville TX. He was a lifelong sports fan and particularly cheered foir the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and the North Dakota Fighting Sioux. He was especially proud of his two grandchildren, and loved to spend time at his cabin in northern Wisconsin.

A Memorial Service for LaVerne J. Boettcher will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 1650 8th Avenue in Baldwin. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior at the church, beginning at 12:00 noon. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin WI. 715-684-3434
