Lavonne Swanson

Lavonne Swanson, age 74 of Somerset, passed away April 10, 2020 at her home. Lavonne was born on February 13, 1946, the daughter of Clinton and Olga Iverson. She attended North Hudson Elementary School and graduated from Hudson High School in 1964. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Ward on June 12, 1965 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson. They were blessed with two children, Nicole and Brandon. Their union ended in divorce in 1979. Lavonne worked at 3M for 34 years in Marketing Communications and retired in 2007. She was united in marriage to Roger Swanson on May 22, 1993. Lavonne’s great loves were her husband, children, grandchildren, her extended family and her friends. She loved looking out the kitchen window when the family was playing in the yard or out on the lake. She said she felt like Rose Kennedy with her compound. Lavonne was very close to her nieces and nephews.

Lavonne is preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Olga Iverson; and brothers, Bill, Robert, and Ronald Iverson. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Roger; daughter, Nicole (Todd) Schmidt; son, Brandon (Marcy) Ward; step-daughters, Karlyn (Jason) Petaja and Jodie Swanson; grandchildren, Shantina and Sara Swanson, Julia, Maggie, and Eva Schmidt, Audrey Ward, and Mady Petaja; great grandchildren, Gavin Eastgate, and Emma and Ellie Moe; brothers, Clayton (Pat) Iverson and Ken (Sherry) Iverson; and sisters-in-law, Gail Iverson and Diane Iverson.

Private interment at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. A public memorial service for Lavonne is being planned for a later date.
