Lawrence Nelson

Lawrence Clifford Nelson age 88 of Woodville, died peacefully Monday, August 9th, 2010 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond. Lawrence was born on March 27, 1922 at the family farmstead in Woodville; the son of William and Eva (Nielsen) Nelson. He was raised here graduating from Woodville High School. He farmed with his father as well as became a cattle dealer along with his brother Wally. On October 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to Muriel J. Bygd at Grace Lutheran Church in Connersville. Following his time of farming, Lawrence worked many years as an appliance salesman for Link Brothers in Minong. Lawrence’s greatest pastime was fishing. While growing up and as a young man, he tested most of the local lakes for some pan fish and even tried his hand at surf fishing down in Florida.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Muriel, children Beth (Pastor Gary) Core of Hammond, Larry (Danette) Nelson of Chetek, Kevin Nelson of Baldwin, thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, siblings Grace Albrecht of Woodville, Marie Geurkink of Woodville, Jean Kamm of Woodville, Wally (Caroline) Nelson of Baldwin, Jeanette (Jim) Busch of Glenwood City, sister-in-law Irene Burch of Hammond, brother-in-law Phillip Bygd of Prairie Farm, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, children Dawn and Robbin, brothers-in-law Willard Albrecht, Harold Fern, Richard Kamm, and Julian Burch.

Funeral service for Lawrence will be 11AM Friday August 13th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodville with Pastor Wayne Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hersey with his grandsons serving as active casketbearers and granddaughters serving as honorary casketbearers. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 until 6PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday morning. Memorials are preferred. Funeral services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.
