LeRoy Hilbert Behling, age 90, of Hudson, WI passed away on September 5, 2012 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Lee was born on December 10, 1921 to Paul and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Behling in Milwaukee, WI. Following his education at Bayview High School in Milwaukee, and earning a Bachelor degree at UW-Madison, he was united in marriage on May 23, 1953 to Ingrid M. Hagenstein. This marriage would be blessed with 2 children. He worked as a business manager for the UW-Milwaukee School of Education, retiring in 1980. Lee also served in WW II as a staff sergeant. Lee lived in the Milwaukee area until 2001 when he moved to Hudson. Lee was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, especially the Milwaukee Braves (later renamed the Brewers), Green Bay Packers, and the Wisconsin Badgers. He loved music and enjoyed gardening. Above all, he was devoted to his family and his faith in the church, serving in many leadership positions. He was also dedicated to church camp ministry.
LeRoy is survived by his daughter Laura Ida of Hudson, his son Kurt (Nancy) of Milwaukee, 2 grandchildren, Paul Ida of Menomonie, Marie (Jordan) Howard and a great grandson Leyton Lee Howard of Stoughton. He is also survived by 2 step grandchildren, Jason (Alicen) Gardner and Sara (Patrick) Regan and 4 step great grandchildren Emily, Beau, Brody, Blake, all of Milwaukee and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ingrid, his second wife Lois (Werner), and his siblings, Alfred, Melvin, Edwin, Harvey, Esther, Lillian, and Paul.
Visitation and Prayer Service was held at O’Connell Funeral Home in Hudson Wisconsin on Sunday, September 9th. Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at The Church of the Good Hope in Milwaukee on Tuesday, September 11th. Memorials are suggested to The Wisconsin United Methodist Camp Foundation.
