Lilly Ann Hartmon

Lilly Ann Hartmon, age 89 of Burkhardt, WI passed away at her home on Friday, August 4, 18 days short of her 90th birthday. She was born the daughter of André and Anna (Devine) Rivard on August 22, 1927 in Somerset, WI. Lilly Ann lived in and around the Somerset area growing up. She attended St. Anne School, and graduated from Somerset High School, class of 1945. Lilly Ann was united in marriage to Robert J. Hartmon on September 22, 1945 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Somerset. The couple moved to Burkhardt and continued to live on the same farm for the rest of their days. They were blessed with eight children: Kathy, Jim, Bob, Colleen, Mike, Rick, John and Tom.
For Lilly Ann, her faith, her family and her friends were the most important things to her. She was a true farmer’s wife; she took great pride in raising the children, making sure the cows were milked and the garden attended to. She was known for her canned goods, especially her wonderful dill pickles. In their younger days, she and Bob enjoyed snowmobiling and camping. Lilly Ann was a 4-H leader for 25 years; her Worthwhile 4-H Club often served as examples to other clubs. She was active in and a reliable volunteer for St. Anne’s church. Many will also remember Lilly Ann for the wedding cakes she made. She was a master cake decorator and made cakes for almost 30 years, including all of her children’s.
Lilly Ann will remain in the hearts of her children: Kathy (Shawn) Cain, Jim (Carolyn) Hartmon, Bob (Mary Ann) Hartmon, Colleen (Bill) Peterson, Mike (Gena) Hartmon, Rick Hartmon, John (Connie) Hartmon, and Tom (Kristi) Hartmon; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Aryliss Plourde; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; and sisters, Adeline Emerson, Eileen DeCosse, and Helen Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lilly Ann at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 141 Church Hill Road, Somerset. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. prior to the Mass at church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
