Lloyd Arthur Johnson

Lloyd A. Johnson, 85, born in River Falls, WI, on October 9, 1930, passed away November 4,
2015. He is survived by his companion of 25 years, LaDonna Bahr, two sons, Craig Johnson (wife LaNelle) and Glenn Johnson (wife Marsha), six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his parents: Miriam L. (Van Marter) and Lawrence Johnson, and wife Shirley L (Yost) Johnson.Lloyd grew up in River Falls WI where he graduated high school. He joined the National Guard in 1947 – 1950 and then the US Air Force 1951 – 1954. He received his B.S. in Education in 1958, at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls; his M.A. in Education in 1962, at the University of Northern Iowa; and Doctorate in 1981 at the University of Minnesota. His career was focused on teaching math and science while working to enhance the educational system. He taught both at the Junior High and High School level in Ellsworth WI. until he joined the University of Wisconsin River Falls, as an Assistant Professor before becoming a professor of Education, Curriculum and Instruction from 1962 – 1991. During that time he published multiple articles, co-authored books, spoke at conferences and consulted on the area of education.
Lloyd married Shirley L. Yost-Barnes December 26, 1951. He and Shirley raised their two boys in River Falls, WI until her passing in 1988. Lloyd was a Professor in River Falls but he was also
known for raising roses, he received multiple awards and state recognition for his Hybidized
Roses. Lloyd loved to travel where he visited all 50 states and multiple countries. Lloyd’s
passion included fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, friends and Companion. He will be deeply missed by Family and Friends.

A visitation will be held at Cashman Hill Funeral Home on Nov. 14, 2015 from 1 – 4 p.m., where we can all share our memories and stories. In Lieu of flowers please send memorials to Shriner Children’s Hospital of Minnesota.
