Lloyd Victor Eggen age 97 of Baldwin died Friday November 22, 2013 at the Baldwin Care Center. Lloyd was born on July 10, 1916 in Baldwin; the son of Odin and Freda (Zillmer) Eggen. He attended Hopyard Elementary School. Lloyd worked as a farm hand for several years. On January 18, 1936, he was united in marriage to Florence Scholl. A son Donald was born to this union. He was a cattle trucker for many years. Lloyd and brother Bob founded Eggens Locker in 1947 . The business would evolve and eventually include groceries in the 1950’s. He would retire from the business in 1968 because of poor health and Don and and Karen took over the store. Lloyd enjoyed traveling, dancing, camping and fishing. He wintered many years in Arizona.

Lloyd is survived by his son Don (Karen) Eggen of New Richmond; his companion Twyla Cooper of Iowa; grandsons Jon (Allene) Eggen of Hammond, Steve (Missy) Eggen of Baldwin; great grandchildren Dan (Hilary), Brad (Mary), Kelli (Jake), Shawn (Kayla), Alexandra (Dan), Carley, Mariah; great great grandchildren Jakob, Barrett, Addison, Stella, Dylan, Kaylee, Briley, Alayna, Maddi Mae, Landon, Brantley; and sisters-in-law Dorothy Eggen and Charlotte Eggen.

He is preceded in death by his wife Florence and wife Jeannie.

A memorial service for Lloyd will be 11AM Saturday, November 30 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers and will be used for Gethsemane Lutheran or the Baldwin Care Center. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin.
