Lois “Cookie” Jordahl

Lois M. “Cookie” Jordahl, age 88 of Hudson, passed away on May 13, 2019 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Lois was born on April 18, 1931 in Baldwin, to parents William and Hattie (Boumeester) Fern. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1949, and was united in marriage to Richard Jordahl on September 26, 1953 at the First Reformed Church in Baldwin. Their union in marriage was blessed with two daughters, and Lois enjoyed the opportunity to provide for her family and take care of them. While raising her own daughters, Lois would babysit for many families and later worked for many years at Lynn Rose Fashions.

Lois truly loved her family and adored all of her grand and great-grandchildren. Her caring nature was present in the homemade cards she sent and the concern she showed toward others, which caused many to refer to her as “Grandma Cookie,” whether she was a relation or not. Lois was fond of baking, and was known to make over 50 batches of sweets every Christmas season. She enjoyed family traditions, flower gardening, taking pictures to assemble photo albums, the annual family spring vacations to Florida, and spending time on Facebook to stay connected with family and friends. For the past 10 years, she was actively involved in fundraising and participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Hudson event. She also loved caring for their dog Simon and taking him for walks in the neighborhood. Lois held a strong christian faith and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hudson.

Lois is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard; children, Christy (Joseph) Simon and Sandy (Greg) Dodge; grandchildren, Rachael (Zach) Miller, Molly (Adam) Hesselroth, and Jennifer Simon; great-grandchildren, Neil and Ingrid Miller; Mallory and Theodore Hesselroth; sister, Jane Jensen; sister-in-law, Georgia Fern; their dog, Simon; and many other beloved family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Eugene Fern, Alma Brummels, and Allen Fern.

A memorial service to celebrate Lois’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21st, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine St., Hudson. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society and the First Presbyterian Church.
