Lois Joyce

Lois Ann Joyce, age 82 of Hudson, and formerly of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly December 5, 2015. Lois was born January 6, 1933 in Wauwatosa, WI, the daughter of Lawrence and Louise (Bowman) Wohlwend. She graduated from West Bend High School, attended nursing school and married Robert Eugene Joyce in 1954. Their union was blessed with eight children.  Lois dedicated over 30 years to welcoming the babies of Washington County into the world at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital in West Bend. She retired to Hudson in 2005.

Outside of her work, Lois appreciated the peacefulness of the outdoors, wildlife and bird watching. In her quiet time, she enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was an enthusiastic member of the “Lois Club” and was proud to be a part of the Women’s Health Initiative, a groundbreaking national health study. Lois loved her time at the Marie Blakeman Senior Center in Hudson, where she volunteered, and also delighted in the friendships and togetherness the center brought her. Lois was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her loving heart and infectious giggle will be dearly missed.

Lois is survived by her children: Cynthia Joyce of NYC and London, Daniel Joyce of Dixon, MO, Russell (Mimi) Joyce of Wasilla, AK, Colette (James) Grams of Rhinelander, WI, Judith (Andy) Talley of Hudson, Kevin (Barb) Joyce of Napavine, WA, Glenn Joyce of West Bend, and Alisa Joyce of Appleton, WI; grandchildren: Danielle, Robert, Christopher, Cosmo, Mathew, Evan and Amelia; great-grandson, Landon; devoted siblings: Darlene Venci, Sharon Jackson, Mary (Lew) Knauer, and Fritz (Diane) Wohlwend; sister-in-law, Mary Wohlwend; many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Robert; brother, Lawrence Wohlwend; brothers-in-law, Raymond Jackson and George Venci.

Funeral services for Lois will take place 1:30 PM Tuesday, December 8 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at church. Private interment will take place at a later date in West Bend.
