Obituary for Loretta Marie (née Bower) Richman
Loretta Marie (née Bower) Richman, 81, was born in Fowler, Indiana on June 20, 1936, to Anthony Joseph Bower and Pearl Marie (née Holscher) Bower. She entered Heaven’s gates on June 24, 2017. Loretta and her loving husband, James Arthur Richman, were joined in marriage on May 31, 1958.
Loretta had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prescott, Wisconsin. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted with numerous fundraising events. She had also been a liturgist and a member of the choir.
Loretta had been a resident of Prescott, Wisconsin since 1966; prior to that she had lived in Fowler and Lafayette, Indiana; Dugway, Utah; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Hartford City, Indiana. Loretta had been highly active in her community, and throughout her years as a resident of Prescott, Wisconsin, had enjoyed being a volunteer at St. Croix Care Center (now Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community), and Carpenter Nature Center in Hastings, Minnesota; in 1999, she was selected as a Volunteer of the Year for Carpenter Nature Center. Loretta also helped establish the Prescott Ambulance service and thereafter served as a volunteer EMT and EMS Training Instructor; she had also been involved with the Prescott Chamber of Commerce, the Wisconsin Great River Road and Scenic Byway, and was a Chairperson for the Pierce County Tourism Committee.
Loretta enjoyed traveling with her husband Jim, and together they visited countries in five of the seven continents of the world.
Loretta is survived by her husband James, and their children Mary Kuder; Cathy Richman; Barbara Sanborn and her husband Mark; Susan Richman; Nancy Froom; and Clifford Richman and his wife Stacey. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Gerald and her husband Dave, her brother Anthony Bower and his wife Betty, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Her daughter Susan and her husband Jim lovingly cared for her the last few years of her life. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Loretta their greatest gratitude.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 30 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 269 Dakota Street South, Prescott, Wisconsin from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow at the same location at 11:00 am, followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and/or Carpenter Nature Center.
