Lorraine Jensen, age 86 of Roberts, died Wednesday, January 8th 2014 at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond. Lorraine was born on February 15, 1927 in Roberts, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Gladys (Burdick) Brown. She was raised in Roberts where she graduated from high school. For a short time, she worked for 3M in the Twin Cities before meeting her future husband. On September 25, 1946, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Albert Jensen in Stuart, Iowa. To this union children Mark, Grant, Marsha, Gloria, Craig “Louie”, and Sonya were born.
Lorraine was a devoted homemaker who loved her family. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She also was a gifted quilter who made ‘thousands’ of quilts for family and church missions. She also loved her flower and vegetable gardens and canning her bountiful goodies. Lorraine was an avid bowler, who was part of a league for many years. Going to her cabin on Bear Trap Lake outside of Amery gave her the greatest pleasure. She knew where the fish were biting and was skilled with a fillet knife. She was always open for a challenging game of scrabble or poker. She served as sexton for Warren Cemetery in Roberts for decades. Furthermore, she was a charter member of Cross Lutheran Church, in which her husband, Wilbur built.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Mark (Monika) Jensen, Grant (Judy) Jensen, Marsha (Jerry) Weiss, Gloria (Craig) Rasmussen, Sonya (Gary) Affolter; grandchildren: Cindy (Joel) Schultz, Andy (Carol) Jensen, Candy (David) Lemerand, Will Jensen, Scott (Beth) Jensen, Kelly Mechavich, Heather Carney, Stacy (Israel) Heard, Kimberly (Dave) Larson, Bradley Weiss (Naoko Sands), Paxton (Dana) Rasmussen, Jennifer (Pete) Werdan, Louie (Angie) Jensen, Kealy (Graham) Cotton, Erik Affolter, Emilee Eggers; 26 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; son, Craig “Louie” Jensen; great grandchild, Zachary; parents, Walter and Gladys Brown; siblings: Beverly Larson, Roy Brown, Kathleen Schmidt, Donna Mae Triebold; and two infant brothers.
Funeral services for Lorraine will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 13th at Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts. Burial will be in the Warren Cemetery in Roberts with casketbearers being her grandsons: Andy Jensen, Will Jensen, Brad Weiss, Louie Jensen, Paxton Rasmussen, and Scott Jensen. Visitation will take place 4:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in HUDSON, as well as one hour prior to the service at church Monday morning.
