Lorraine Steel

Lorraine Steel age 84 of Hudson died December 26th 2017 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. Lorraine was born on May 25, 1933 in Hudson; the daughter of Grover and Florence (VanSomeren) Frazier. She was raised in Hudson where she graduated from high school in the class of 51. On June 8, 1957, she was united in marriage to Jim Steel at the Presbyterian Church in Hudson. This union would be blessed with three children Dave, Dan, and Barb. Prior to raising their children, she worked for the Register of Deeds for David Hope St. Croix County.

Lorraine loved being a wife and mom. She was a great baker whose donuts and cinnamon rolls could be smelled from blocks away. She was fond of sewing as she made most of Barb’s dance costumes and rarely missed a game or school event of any of her children. It gave her great joy to volunteer at the Hudson Medical Center in dietary and flower arrangements. Moreover, She enjoyed entertaining and decorating the house for festive celebrations. She treasured her home church and singing in the Presbyterian choir for nearly thirty years.

Lorraine will live on in the hearts of her husband of 60 years Jim; children Dan (Kaye) Steel of New Richmond, Dave (Mary) Steel of Appleton, Barb (Al) Burke of Hudson; grandchildren Stephanie, Samantha, Christina, Matt, Andy, Steven; sister Jean Behm of Hudson, and brother-in-law Russ Serier of Baldwin. She is preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Serier.

Funeral service for Lorraine will be 10:30 Saturday December 30th, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson. Visitation will be on Friday from 6pm to 8pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson and one hour prior to the service at church Saturday morning. Burial will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. Memorials are preferred.
