Lowell Veenendaal

Lowell Veenendaal age 70 of Baldwin died after he lost his battle with leukemia on Thursday May 16, 2013 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center.  Lowell was born on January 8, 1943 in Baldwin, Wisconsin; the son of Louis and Myrtle (West) Veenendaal. Lowell was raised in Baldwin and graduated in the last class from the Baldwin High School. Following this, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Air Force. On May 29, 1968, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Madsen in Crystal, Minnesota. This union would be blessed with children Karen and Daniel. Lowell worked for Vollrath in River Falls for many years as a door assembler prior to them changing their name to Kolpak.  More recently, he worked in metal fabrication for Ryerson Steel in Baldwin before retiring in 2010.
Lowell was an avid outdoorsman. He loved the challenge of musky fishing on his favorite spots on Bone Lake and the Apple River. He also loved having friends and family over; firing up the grill and barbecuing his favorite recipes. He was also passionate about Wisconsin sports; the Packers and the Badgers as well as reading a good mystery novel from Patterson or Grisham.

Lowell is survived by his wife Jeanne, children Karen (Edward) Nash of Eau Claire, Daniel (Amber) Veenendaal of Woodbury, grandchildren Paul, Dean, Luke, Cole, Darian, Brett; brothers Jon (Sandy) Veenendaal of Baldwin, Duane (Judy) Veenendaal of Baldwin, his aunts Rose Schug of Baldwin, Delores Veenendaal of Morris, MN; as well as his nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life for Lowell Veenendaal will be 1:00PM Monday May 20 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Burial with full military honors provided by the Baldwin American Legion Post will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Funeral services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.
