Loyes Evelyn Hemstock, age 84 of Hudson WI, formerly of Sparta WI, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson WI. Loyes was born on January 25, 1934 in Viroqua WI, to parents P. Leland and Evelyn (Tryggestäd) Peterson. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1951. During 1950, Loyes and her boyfriend, Donald Hemstock were crowned the prom queen and king at Sparta High. The high school sweethearts were united in marriage on June 6, 1953 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sparta. The couple were blessed with five children, and 56 wonderful years together. Loyes earned an associates degree in Medical Lab Technology from the Minneapolis Technical College. She worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. David Fleming at his practice in Hudson.

Loyes loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. She enjoyed traveling as well as learning about everyone else’s trips and travel plans. Loyes kept up on current events by reading the newspaper and watching the news daily, and was entertained by reading historical romances and dramas. Having moved to numerous homes throughout her life, she developed interest in home design, decorating and real estate in general. With each move, Loyes developed cherished friendships across the state of Wisconsin. She loved a good cup of coffee, talking on the telephone and watching Badger football and basketball games. 

Loyes is survived by her children, Susan (Harold) Roberts, Kathryn (Thomas) Youngberg, Pete (Nancy) Hemstock, Sarah (Perry) Robinson, and John (Kris) Hemstock; grandchildren, Betsy (Tom) Skerik, Anna (Brian) Pfannes, Katerina Youngberg, Evan Hemstock, Carter Hemstock, and Claire Hemstock; great-granddaughters, Sydney Pfannes, Hannah and Abigail Skerik; sister; Lynne Rigg; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; and son-in-law, Dennis Larson. The family wishes to extend a warm thanks to the staff at the Christian Community Home and Lakeview Hospice for their dedicated and loving care.

A Memorial Celebration of Life for Loyes Hemstock will be held at 2:30 PM on SUNDAY, September 9, 2018 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1205 6th St., Hudson WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Christian Community Home in Hudson and Lakeview Hospice in Stillwater, MN.
