Lucreta Jaehnke

Lucreta Mae Jaehnke age 91 of Hudson, formerly of Onalaska, Eau Claire, Milwaukee and Madison, died March 13, 2022 at Pine Ridge Gardens with her children by her side. Lu was born on January 24, 1931 in Iron Mountain, Michigan; the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (O’Conner) Coons. She attended school in Breitag Township prior to graduating from Lincoln High School in Milwaukee. On July 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Arthur Jaehnke in Milwaukee. When the children grew older, she returned to school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. In her later years, both she and Art worked for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue where she helped process tax returns and payments.

Lu thoroughly enjoyed time spent with friends, whether playing bridge, golfing with her league, or bowling with her team. Furthermore, she and Art also took great pride as election polling volunteers.

Lu is survived by her children, Kathy (Ken) Kryzenske of Waukesha, Karen (Dennis) Blank of River Falls, Jay (Dawn) Jaehnke of Chisago City; son-in-law, Thomas Kearns of Rhinelander; grandchildren, Scot (Jessica), Amy (Kyle), Kaitlin (Stephen), Whitney, Cara (Jeff), Adam (Jennifer), Anya, Kyle (Maria); great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hannah, Isla, Rowan, Brie, Lucas, Dylan, Oliver, Micah, Andrew, Meredith, Jacob, Breccan, Analeigh, and Theodore. She is preceded in death by her husband, Art; daughter, Debra Kearns; and great granddaughter, Elena Kearns.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held privately at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Memorials may be made to the Christian Community Campus Foundation as the care and dignity they showed our mother was so appreciated.
