Lutischa “Tish” Mulvaney

Lutischa Eva Anna “Tish” Mulvaney, age 97, of Stillwater, MN passed away on May 15, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Home. She was born the daughter of William Charles and Martha Maria (Schuetze) Swaner on May 6, 1914 in Lakeland, MN. Tish was a 1932 Hudson High School graduate. On November 28, 1936, she married LaVern J. “Vaney” Mulvaney at St. Patrick’s Rectory in Hudson. They were blessed with four children: daughter, Michel and sons, Richard, Dennis and Perry. Tish spent her working career as an auditor in the tax department for the state of Minnesota, retiring in 1976. Upon her retirement, she used her skills as a seamstress, often working on elaborate clothing like wedding dresses and suits.

She was active in the PTA, where she served as president for a number of  years. Her leadership skills were also used during her time on committees for Stillwater senior citizens. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She traveled to many U.S. states and countries around the world. Tish authored and published “The Mulvaney Clan”, a family history, and wrote an article for St. Patrick’s Day that appeared on the front page of USA Today. But above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Tish was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern “Vaney” on May 30, 1986; son, Richard; one grandson and one granddaughter; her parents; brothers, William and Donald Swaner; and her sister, Vernice Franklin. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Croixdale and Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Stillwater for their love and care of Tish; especially to George, who took special care of her and stayed by her side.
