Lyle A. McGee

Lyle Arnold McGee Jr., age 72 of Troy Township, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2016 at his home.

Lyle was born on October 19, 1943 in River Falls, WI, the son of Lyle Alexander and Elva Elinor (Jerry) McGee. He graduated from the Baldwin-Woodville Area High School in 1961 and attended Technical School in St. Paul where he learned to be a machinist. Lyle was united in marriage on April 27, 1963 to Sharleen Fay Robelia. Although their marriage later dissolved, their lives were blessed with six children: William, Charles, Michael, Sherri, Connie, and Angela. The family resided in Ellsworth and later moved to River Falls. Lyle worked as a Lead Machinist for several companies, including many years at American Hoist and Derrick and Northwest Airlines, from which he retired. On November 14, 1998, Lyle married Jonel Marie Frye at their home in Troy Township. Lyle and Jonel adored one another and truly loved spending time together, whether playing cribbage, going out dancing, or traveling. Some of their favorite destinations were Hawaii, Alaska, Memphis, and New Orleans.

In his younger days, Lyle raced stock car at various speedway’s in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and even in Thunder Bay, Canada, a couple of times. Lyle’s love for speed and vehicles also included Harley Davidson motorcycles and airplanes. He was very proud of the fact that he had attained a pilot’s license. Lyle was also fond of going fishing, watching the History Channel or a NASCAR race, and rooting on the Green Bay Packers. He was a loyal member of the Sons of the American Revolution, which he was privileged to join due to his Patriot ancestor James Magee’s Revolutionary War service. Lyle served as Historian of the Wisconsin Society, Stephen Tainter Chapter.

Lyle will remain in the hearts of his beloved wife of 17 years, Jonel; children, William McGee and his wife Diane Pulju, Charles McGee and his wife Vanda Fenner, Michael McGee, Sherri (McGee) Parmeter, Connie (McGee) Elbe and her husband Dean, and Angela (McGee) Davis and her husband Denario; step-children, Angela (Mabie) Larson, Megan (Mabie) McConaughey and her husband Jesse, Katie (Mabie) Mendes and her husband Edward, and Becky (Mabie) Reed and her husband Kevin; 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; his first wife, Sharleen (Robelia) McGee; several nieces and nephews, and extended relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jean Montgomery, and Nancy McGee.

A Funeral Service for Lyle will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23 at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Hersey following the funeral.
