Lyle Howard Ross “Beaver”, age 89, of Hager City, WI died Friday, June 14, 2019 at his home. He was born on June 6, 1930 in Hager City, WI to Phillip and Elsie (Raethke) Ross. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School. Lyle married Inez Holt on October 1, 1949 in Red Wing, MN. Lyle retired from SB Foot Tannery in 1993 after working 33 years. Since retiring he worked part-time for Red Wing Shoe and later for Lutheran Social Services.
Beaver will always be remembered for his gift of taking the time to talk with anyone he would meet.
Inez Mae Ross, age 87, of Hager City, WI died Friday, April 26, 2019 at her home. She was born on December 12, 1931 in Chaehalis, WA to Vernon and Mathilda (Kaempf) Holt. She received her GED and later completed secretarial courses through the Vo-Tech in Red Wing. She was married to Lyle Ross on October 1, 1949. Inez was industrious and ran her own decorating business called “Paper Dolls”.
Once retired her hobbies were quilting, reading and woodworking. She worked part-time at Red Wing Shoe and Lutheran Social Services, along with being a homemaker.
The couple is preceded in death by Lyle’s parents, Phillip and Elsie Ross; Inez’s parents, Vernon and Mathilda Holt; grandson, Ross Allen Vanberg; Lyle’s 1 brother and 7 sisters; Inez’s 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Lyle and Inez are lovingly remembered by their daughters, Denese (Scott) Vanberg of Red Wing, MN and Dianne (Todd) Mehrkens of Hager City, WI; grandchildren, Justin and Joshua Vanberg and Katrina and Matthew Mehrkens; Lyle’s sister, Joyce Haggstrom of Auburndale, FL; Inez’s brother, Marshall (Sherry) Holt of Bay City, WI; Inez’s sisters, Lois Andrews of Maiden Rock, WI and Dorothy Alkire of Reno, NV; Inez’s sister-in-law, Flora Holt of Bay City, WI; they are also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for the couple will be held 3:00 PM, Monday, June 17, 2019 at Bethel Covenant Church, W8405 County Road KK, Ellsworth, WI. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 PM at the church prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the church cemetery. www.oconnellfuneralservices.com 715-273-4421
