Lyle Moelter

Lyle W. Moelter, age 88 of Hudson, passed away March 19, 2014 at his residence in Hudson.  Lyle was born October 16, 1925 in Boardman, WI, the son of Joseph and Sadie (Simon) Moelter.   Lyle proudly served his country as a Sgt. in the United States Army from December of 1952 until May 1954.   He was united in marriage to Ilene Van Someren on October 25, 1952.  Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Mark and Greg.  Lyle loved life on the farm and found pleasure raising cattle on his hobby farm in Turtle Lake.  He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed the tranquility and peacefulness of fishing, deer hunting and camping.  He was fortunate to share many fishing adventures to Canada with friends.  Lyle treasured his mornings out for coffee socializing at McDonalds and the many friendships that were made along the way.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be dearly missed.

Lyle will remain in the hearts of his loving wife of 61 years, Ilene; sons, Mark (Jean) Moelter of River Falls and Greg (Kathy) Moelter of Hudson; grandchildren:  Brittney (Josh) Bergstrom, Brooke (Josh) Ahlert and Hollye Gainey; great grandchildren:  Mikayla, Amara and Audrey; and brother, John (Georgine) Moelter.  He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

A visitation honoring Lyle’s life will take place 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, March 23 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, and one hour prior to Mass at the church.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Monday, March 24 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with Fr. John Gerritts officiating.  Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers assisting with the services will be:  Dean Schwartz, Randy Anding, Brian Van Someren, Larry Hanson, Josh Ahlert and Josh Bergstrom.  Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
