Mabel “Meg” Evelyn Whitney, age 84, formerly of Barry County, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012, in Baldwin Area Medical Center, Baldwin, Wisconsin.
She was born in Rocky Comfort, Missouri, on November 16, 1927, the daughter of John and Blanche (Aubrey) Garrison. In 1946, she married Alfred Larson and to this union three sons were born. In 1992, she married Wallace “Wally” Whitney, who preceded her in death on March 5, 2004. Also preceding her in death were her parents, four sisters, three brothers and a grandson, Robert.
Surviving are three sons, John Larson and his wife, Karen of Prescott, Wisconsin, Edward “Ed” Larson and his wife, Laura of Washburn, Missouri and Harold Larson of Costa Rica; two brothers, John Austin Garrison and his wife, Dorothy of Columbia, Missouri and John Wesley “JW” Garrison and his wife, Wilma of Fairview, Missouri; two sisters, Edna Lukon of Monett, Missouri, Sharon Brown and her husband, Rex of Peculiar, Missouri; two granddaughters, Shelly Cabada and her husband, Miguel of Orlando, Florida and Misty Leonard and her husband, Jason of Jefferson City, Missouri; seven great grandchildren Mary, John, Joey, Michael, Marcus, Robert IV and Paige and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Meg grew up in Southwest Missouri and graduated high school at Fairview. She was a loving wife and mother, as well as a real estate agent in Atlanta and a collection agent for Sears in Chicago. She had a strong personal faith, work ethic, and concern for others. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Cassville and Triple L. Meg loved spending time with her family and her church family. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States, including Hawaii, also Mexico, Canada, numerous European destinations, Japan, Australia, and Israel (twice). She also enjoyed working in her yard, the fall review of the leaves, and listening to music.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 11, 2012, in First Baptist Church, Cassville, Missouri. Reverend James Weaver will conduct the services. Burial will be in Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.
Friends may call from 10:30 A.M. until service time Saturday at the church.
