Madeleine Marie Olender, age 89 of Woodbury, entered eternal life on July 26, 2020.

Madeleine was born on April 7, 1931, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Cecile (LeFrancois) Martineau. Madeleine attended St. Catherine’s University where she earned her occupational therapy degree. She began working in Omaha Nebraska as an occupational therapist and while there she met the love of her life, Richard Olender, and on May 7, 1955, they were united in marriage and together they were blessed with five children.

Madeleine and Richard started a business in 1963 after the birth of their fourth child. From then on Madeleine devoted her talents to running the business and raising her growing family.  She had a strong faith and loved to learn about God in her home bible study, B.S.F and Torah Club. Nothing brought her more pride and joy than her children and grandchildren and spending time with them creating lasting memories. Many of their best memories are from trips on the St. Croix river with family and friends.

Madeleine will be missed by her children, Michelle (David) Meis, Dave Olender, Greg Olender, Camille Wickstrom, and Louise (Ross) Rislove; grandchildren, Nicole Meis, Brittany (James) Wygocki, Jon Meis, Will Meis, Eleanor Wickstrom, Jack Wickstrom, Samantha Rislove, Jessica Rislove, and Carter Rislove; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Cecile; husband, Richard; stillborn son, Daniel; and brother and sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7PM on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020 at Christ Church, 12925 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, Apple Valley, MN. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at church from 6-7PM. Madeleine will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, WI.
